The team at The Box Community is extremely excited and proud to announce Mallory Berger as our newest TBC Ambassador.
Mallory’s athletic background started at a young age with competitive swimming. As she got older, her passion for health and fitness continued to grow leading her to study Exercise Science and Health Promotion in college and begin pursuing a career in the fitness industry. Always being driven by competition, she competed in several figure and bikini competitions with the NPC before discovering CrossFit in 2012.
Since finding Crossfit, she has never looked back. Originally from Houston, TX Mallory competed at the South Central Regionals in 2014 and 2015 with Crossfit Eado before moving to Melbourne with her partner in 2015. Since coming to Australia she has joined Schwartzs Crossfit Melbourne where she helped their team secure a 2nd place finish at the 2016 Pacific Regional earning her first ticket to the Crossfit Games!
So, what’s next for this superstar CrossFit athlete? Mallory and the team at Schwartzs are gearing up for the 2017 season in hopes of getting back to the Games in Madison, Wisconsin this year.
Name: Mallory Berger
Sports followed: Whatever my boyfriend makes me watch lol
Favourite CrossFit athlete: Samantha Briggs & Camille LeBlanc Bazinet
Favourite WOD & why? Anything short and heavy!
Favourite movement/Exercise? Squats, squat cleans, and deadlifts have always been my jam, but lately I have really been enjoying muscle ups and snatching.
Favourite post wod meal? Coconut water and chocolate protein! Tastes like chocolate milk!
Have you always excelled at sport? Not sure if I would say I excelled, but I was always active and enjoyed staying fit and healthy.
What got you involved in the sport of CrossFit? I got really burnt out of the bodybuilding world but still really enjoyed health and fitness. I was watching TV one night and the CrossFit Games came on. I remember watching it and just thinking “OMG I WAS MADE FOR THIS!” I found a local box the next day and the rest is history
Why do you love CrossFit so much? I just love the way it makes me feel. I love having something to do every day that gives me a sense of accomplishment and pushes me to my limits. The day to day grind of training just makes me happy. There is nothing I’d be rather doing at any given time then throwing around some weight with good friends and having some laughs along the way.
Goals for 2017: Getting back to the games with my teammates from Schwartzs Crossfit Melbourne!
Favourite quotes: “Pride lasts longer than pain”
My ethos: “When you’re not training, someone else is”
